Supertunia Vista Bubblegum

Hey everyone! I’m thrilled to share an exciting update with you today! I’ve finally gotten my hands on some Supertunia Vista 'Bubblegum'! If you’re familiar with this variety, you know it’s a powerhouse—boasting vibrant, bubblegum-pink blooms that form lush, colorful mounds. According to the Proven Winners website, it’s hardy in zones 10-11, but since I’m in zone 9b here in central Florida, I’m eager to see how it handles our humid climate.

As you can see, the plants aren’t looking their best right after shipping, but that’s typical. I ordered mine directly from the Proven Winners website, since it’s hard to find their plants locally. In about a week, they should perk up, showing more color and life.

I planted one in a hanging pot that gets full morning sun and a little afternoon dappled shade—perfect for Florida’s hot late summer months. The other went directly into the ground in a sunnier spot to compare how they do in different conditions.

I love these plants, but Florida’s rainy season (late June to early September) can sometimes take a toll on anything not suited for a subtropical or tropical environment. To mitigate this, I’ve planted them in well-draining soil and raised them on mounds, hoping to prevent the excessive rain from leaving them waterlogged.

Supertunias thrive in fertile, moist soil, but it must drain well to avoid water pooling around their roots. I’ve already given them a dose of Proven Winners Water Soluble Fertilizer (pictured below) and will continue to reapply it every 7-10 days to keep them healthy.

I’ll be sharing regular updates on how these Supertunias perform in my zone 9b garden here in central Florida.

Hope you're all having a fantastic day! Until next time!
