Hello everyone! I'm excited to share this update with you today! I finally got my hands on some Supertunia Vista 'Bubblegum'. If you know anything about this variety of supertunia, then you know that it is a vigorous variety that produces mounds of beautiful bubblegum-pink blooms. The hardiness zones listed on the Proven Winners website show that it is hard from zones 10-11, which I am in zone 9b central Florida, so I am curious to see how well they can hold up in our humid conditions.

Plants usually never look too happy right after shipping, which is when these photos were taken. I did order my supertunias from the Proven Winners website because it is hard to find any Proven Winners plants in my area. Within a week, these should look a little happier and have more color.
I planted one in a hanging pot that gets full morning sun and then a little bit of a dappled afternoon sun, which I thought would be good for these hot late summer months in Florida. I also planted another one in the ground in a more full sun location to see how each one does.
I do love plants like this, but here in Florida, sometimes the excessive rain that we get can tend to make any plants that are not intended for a subtropical or tropical climate just look sad during this time of the year (late June-early September). I have planted them in very well-draining soil and on a mound, so I'm hoping the deluge of rain we get during these months will not keep them soaking with wet feet.
Supertunias like the soil to be fertile and moist, but well-draining and not allowing the water to puddle around the plants or roots. I did give these all a watering with the Proven Winners Water Soluble fertilizer(pictured below) and will reapply every 7-10 days.
I will be keeping everyone updated on my journey with this Supertunia variety here in my zone 9b central Florida garden.
I hope everyone is having an amazing day! Until next time!
